Staff members at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) were informed via email that the agency's Washington headquarters would be closed to employees on Monday, according to two sources who confirmed the information to Fox News Digital.

Some employees reported being locked out of USAID’s computer systems overnight, as reported by The Associated Press. Those who remained logged in received notifications stating that, "at the direction of Agency leadership," the headquarters would be closed to personnel on Monday, February 3. Additionally, Elon Musk, who is leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) initiative, mentioned during an X spaces conversation that President Donald Trump had agreed with the decision to shut down USAID, the agency responsible for distributing humanitarian, development, and security assistance globally.
